The 2022 Amputees National Football league is expected to kick off on the 23rd day of April at the SKD Sports Complex in Paynesville with six clubs.
The President of Liberia Amputees Football and Sports Association, Cooper George told Reports 231 recently that they are in need of ten thousand United States dollars to enable them to host a successful league.
Mr. George said players will be selected at the end of the league to begin early training preparation ahead of the 2022 Amputees World Cup in Turkey, adding that, the fundraising for the hosting of the league will commence this Thursday, April 7, 2022, across Montserrado County.
Mr. George also appreciated the government of Liberia for paying the participation fees of five thousand United States dollars (USD$5,000) for the Amputees Lone Star team’s participation in the World Cup.
Liberia is the highest winner of the Amputees Nations Cup with a record of three titles in six editions.
The red, white, and blue boys have also lost two finals and finished 3rd place.
Ghana won the competition on two occasions while Angola carry it once.
