The Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency says it has terminated the services of Officer Jimmy Gayeyou and subjected him to investigation for allegedly beating a resident of schiefflin town after accusing him of stealing his telephone.

Addressing a news conference Tuesday LDEA communication officer Michael Jiplah said Officer Jimmy Gayeyou on January 7, 2022, was involved in acts that contrived the ethics of the institution including the flogging of a resident of schiefflin town Margibi high way for allegedly stealing his cell phone.

According to Jiplah immediately following a complaint by the survivor LDEA took seize of the matter and place Officer Jimmy Garue under investigation adding the investigation established that the officer was liable for meting pain against an unnamed who he accused of stealing his phone.

He further that as part of effort authority of the institution are working out modality to investigate others in connection to the alleged flogging of the unnamed man in Schiefflin Township while pledging the LDEA commitment to penalize those in the habit of damaging the image of the institution.

Officer Jimmy Gayeyou was assigned at the Schiefflin Township LDEA Detachment as one of the senior officers before carrying out the act.

Meanwhile, Jiplah called on the House of Senate to consider taking steps to concord with the Lower House in the passage of the 2021 amended drug law.

He noted that the passing of the drugs bill will address the growing wave of abuse on our young people and will equally alleviate the increase in crimes rate in the Country.
