WOMEN WITH COMPETENCE, KNOWLEDGE, INTEGRITY, RESPECT AND CONFIDENCE
Monrovia, Liberia – The Second Lady of the Republic of Liberia, Madam Synleseh Stephen Dahn Koung has described the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, Professional Women Association as women of competence, with knowledge, integrity, respect intelligence and confidence.
Speaking at the association Mother’s Day Celebration under the theme; Balancing Professional Life and Motherhood in Monrovia on Thursday, May 16, 2024, Madam Koung expressed gratitude to the women for their unwavering contributions to the operation of the ministry of finance.
Speaking on the program theme, the 2nd Lady said, as a woman it is difficult to blend professional life with family duties. She mentioned that at times, it is close to impossible.
According to Madam Koung, before being a mother or a professional woman, a woman first calling is to be a wife. She noted that women often flip the two, putting their kids or work before their spouses.
In addition to maintaining their attractiveness and being their spouses’ biggest source of support, she urged the MFDP Professional Women Association to organize date nights, find quick and easy ways to connect with their wives during the day, and be a team player.
The Liberian 2nd Lady noted that single mothers are incredible women doing a great job. Expressing gratitude to single mothers and women, Madam Koung encouraged her audience to connect with their close friends and family members regularly.
She added that, ”When you spend time with your friends and family member who love you, supports and listens to you, you will feel more energized to be able to work and love your kids well.”
The adult human needs eight hours of sleep per night to get a nice rest, Madam Koung noted, urging the ladies to prioritize relaxation and sleep for themselves and their children. But soon pointed out that most working women aren’t able to reach that goal.
While appreciating the women, Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn Koung encouraged the women to ask family to help them in some of their home duties like taking care of the children, hiring a baby sitter, asking spouse or older children to care for their little ones and or get a contact person at school.
She conveyed her appreciation to the association for choosing her to be the keynote speaker and for honoring her at the function.
The women were commended for organizing the program to celebrate women who have worked hard to advance the ministry by Hon. Tanneh G. Brunson, Deputy Minister for Budget and Development Planning.
