Determine Girls will represent the West African Football Union (WAFU Zone ‘A’) at next year’s Total Energies Women’s Champions League finals in Morocco in November and December.

The Liberian champions defeated Union Sportive des Parcelles Assainies (USPA) of Senegal 1-0 in the regional qualifiers at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia on August 21, 2022.

Guinea international Bountou Sylla scored in the 25th minute after she handed a Kanties Sayee pass in the half of their opponents and slotted it beyond goalkeeper Adji Ndiaye and the home supporters began to jubilate.

USPA striker Coumba Mbodj had two golden chances to level the score but failed to utilize her opportunities.

Following the final whistle, Antoinette Tubman Stadium turned into a jubilant ground by fans, players, and technical staff of Determine Girls.

Meanwhile, it is the first time since 2002 when Liberia qualified for Mali’s Africa Cup of Nations finals that a Liberian team has qualified for the final of a continental competition.

The Orange women’s champions became the first Liberian team to qualify for a women’s football final in Africa.

Mali’s AS Mandé, the inaugural WAFU champions in Cape Verde in 2021, finished as runners-up, having drawn 1-1 with the Liberians at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville on August 17, 2022, and goalless with USPA at the ATS on August 19, 2022.

Determine Girls FC’s striker Bountou Sylla and goalkeeper Jackie Touah were named as the most valuable player and best goalkeeper while Mandé took home the fair play team.

The player of the match between Determine Girls and USPA on Sunday went to Mareme Babou.
