Monrovia, Liberia – The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Capitol Hill received a courtesy visit from Yin Chengwu, the Chinese ambassador accredited to Liberia. The visit served two purposes: first, it was to reiterate China’s 2003 promise to the Liberian government; second, it invited the Minister to the Sino-African Local Government Cooperation Summit, which is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou, Quangzing Province, from July 8–10, 2024.
The Guangdong Provincial People’s Government and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAPFO) will co-host the summit.
The ambassador underlined the necessity of women’s empowerment in Liberia and the significance of the One China policy for the country’s citizens.
On behalf of the government of Liberia, Minister Sakila Nyumalin Sr, thanked the Chinese government and outlined the advantages of the long-standing partnership for Liberia.
The discussion between the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Chinese Ambassador served as a reminder of the benefits that both countries have shared from their solid collaboration with China.
It also emphasized how crucial it is for the two nations to keep working together in a variety of development and governance-related fields.
