Monrovia, Liberia – Following six weeks of contentious campaigning that resulted in deaths and property devastation, Liberians demand a peaceful election on October 10, 2023. As voters head to the polls on Tuesday to choose the country’s president, senators, and representatives, dozens of Liberians are urging for peace.
Many Liberians who called in to the Ok Morning Rush, a local radio program in Monrovia on Monday, October 9, 2023, urged members of different political parties and the leaders of those parties to maintain composure as the election process progresses.
They denounced the skirmishes that resulted in bloodshed in the counties of Lofa and Montserrado and noted that those who support the CDC and the UP should tone down their language and concentrate on preserving the calm in the nation.
