CAUTIONS POLITICAL PARTIES TO WAIT FOR NEC FINAL RESULT
Monrovia, Liberia – Preparations for pre-victory celebrations on Friday, November 17, 2023, have begun for the two political parties that participated in the Tuesday, November 14, 2023, presidential run-off elections, according to a report from the Joint Security of Liberia. As previously warned, the Joint Security of Liberia is reiterating that no political party should hold such pre-victory celebrations until the National Elections Commission has released the final results and identified the winner of the presidential runoff elections.
In order to maintain the valued peace and tranquility during this pivotal period in the nation’s democratic sojourn, the Joint Security calls on the leaderships of the two political parties (UP and CDC) to exercise control over their partisans and supporters as well as exhibit a high degree of political maturity and sensitivity.
The Joint Security pledges to keep an eye on everything, including social media, and to pursue anyone responsible for causing unrest that escalates into violence under Liberian law.
“We guarantee unrestricted security for all Liberians living within Liberia’s borders, and we ask that you proceed with your regular activities.”
