Monrovia-The third class of Diplomatic Crowd Control Officers has graduated from the Liberia National Police Academy and Training Schools, (LNPATS). 170 Joint Security Officers participated in the training, which was sponsored by France and spanned from September 19 through October 30, 2022. ( LNP: 122, LIS: 24 & LDEA: 24).

The Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Hervé Goudal, thanked the graduates’ and their instructors’ participation in the democratic crowd management, especially during this wet season, he spoke during the closing ceremony on behalf of the French Ambassador, Hon. Roux Michael.

Mr. Goudal reiterated the French Ambassador’s assessment of Liberia’s democracy from the previous year, adding, “The right to demonstrate is a crucial political freedom and a component of the freedom of expression that makes democracy, but it must remain a peaceful expression of demands, in respect for the rights of others.”

Additionally, he urged all CRS Class 3 personnel to maintain discipline while ensuring citizens’ rights to fair democratic speech and maintaining public order.

Hon. Patrick T. Sudue, Inspector General of Police, for his part, emphasized the delicate nature of crowd control and the need for strength, endurance, and intelligence. He once more expressed his gratitude to the teaching staff, the ambassador, and the French government for their ongoing assistance in enhancing the skills of the law enforcement officers in Liberia.

LNP Head Sudue congratulated the Republican Security Companies, previously Compagnie Républicainé de Sécurite (CRS), of the French national Police for providing the training. They are Major Philippe Le Marre and Brigadier Chef Roland Defit.

Meanwhile, due to their discipline and noteworthy performance, Sgts. Samuel Cole Tarr, Joseph T. Yillia, and Malachi S. Kolubah were recommended for advanced training in Paris, France. The LDEA Director General, Hon. Marcus D. Zehyoue, the DIGP for Training and Manpower Development, Atty. Sabastian Farr, the LIS boss’ proxy, Hon. Danny B. Sartee, among others, as well as graduates’ families, all attended the program.
