Capitol Hill, Monrovia – As Liberians prepare for the general and presidential elections in 2023, the Liberia National Police authority has vowed to safeguard the country’s democracy and peace. The LNP’s leadership will allocate officers to each candidate during the election season, according to Inspector General Patrick Sudue.

The Police Inspector General reaffirmed that the police are fully equipped to deal with any acts of violence that may be committed during the campaign against any candidate or their followers. He then urged the public to keep the peace. The Police Inspector General also issued a warning to political parties and independent candidates who intended to disrupt the election to be prepared to face the Liberian National Police.

According to him, the National Elections Commission and the police will distribute an equal number of police personnel to each political party running in the 2023 elections. The LNP will continue to work for every resident and to keep the public informed about the changing circumstances in the country, he said, urging people not to worry. The LNP Headquarters on Capitol Hill in Monrovia welcomed the police IG on Tuesday.
