Monrovia -The Liberian National Table Tennis Association has sworn in its newly elected officials, who will oversee operations for the organization for the next four years. The institution’s main headquarters in Monrovia hosted the induction ceremony on Thursday.
Those inducted are: Gbassay Golee, President, Wennie Klimeh,Vice President for Administration, and Jacob Cooper, Vice President for Technical Affairs. Others are: Siaquiyah Davis, Vice President, International Relations, Larmine Freeman, Secretary General and Mennie Klimeh, Financial Secretary.
Deputy Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie stated during the induction ceremony that the Ministry of Youth and Sports will collaborate with all 32 officially recognized sporting federations and associations in the nation. While warning the officials of the Liberia Table Tennis Association to act in the organization’s best interests, Minister Quamie added that his love of football as deputy minister cannot prevent him from engaging with other sports.
“Despite the difficulties, we aim to collaborate with your federation and others. 32 sporting federations and associations have been recognized, as I previously stated. To suggest our focus is entirely on football, is not accurate, Deputy Sports Minister G. Andy Quamie acknowledged”.
G. Gbassay Golee, president of the Liberia Table Tennis Association, stated during his inaugural address that Liberia will have a ready national team under his leadership. He added that he started office without a national team or a place for his country on the world Table Tennis rankings.
” My love for this game started back in the 80’s as a little boy. Now, as president of this institution, I will demonstrate good leadership to ensure those things that were lacking in the past administrations be done at time, Mr. Golee said”.
