Residents of Central Monrovia have been advised not to drink water from the Liberia Water and Sewer Cooperation’s pipes for a period of thirty days by the organization’s administration. Duannah Kamara, the entity’s managing Director, claims that dangerous particles have entered the broken pipe, making consumption impossible while the blooming process is still going on.

Mr. Kamara stated that the institution’s technicians advise against drinking or cooking with the water coming from the reservoir since it is contaminated and has a high chlorine concentration. He then urged locals to practice patience as the organization is working hard to find a solution within the next 30 days.

Director Kamara stated that pipe-borne water has been restored to Monrovia and its environs by the government of Liberia with assistance from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other Development partners, including the World Bank, on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism MICAT special press briefing in Monrovia. The head of water and sewer used the occasion to let the public know that the organization had established a special task force team, made up primarily of members of the finance department, whose job is to collect money from customers and to disconnect any illegal ones who are impeding national development.

He asserted that the company has a total of 23, 000 consumers in its database, but research by Sayvail indicates that there are more than 60,000 unlawful recipients of the cooperation, which is impeding the institution’s development.

Mr. Kamara emphasized that the institution’s production limit is $5,000 USD per day, and the entity is unable to generate more than that amount each day. He also noted that the institution’s expenses far outweigh its income, and he urged the public to call the institution’s hotline at (5972) if they see anyone making illegal connections. Mr. Kamara insisted that those responsible will be detained and taken to court for their illicit connections.
