Monrovia, Liberia – The Monrovia City Cooperation has started a massive cleanup exercise and neighborhood outreach in Monrovia’s main streets and surrounding areas. In order to foster a strong sense of civic duty and community pride in the city, the program aims to make the neighborhood more appealing and healthier the Director for Sanitation and Waste Management Success Harris stated.

The major Monrovia waterside business area, Randall Street, Gurley Street, and Broad Street, were the site of an exercise carried out by the MCC Sanitation team on August 15, 2024.

Mr. Harris claims that the initiative intends to inspire city dwellers to actively participate in the care and cleanliness of their cities. “The launch of the campaign in Monrovia will encourage companies and landowners to consistently sustain CBEs, or community-based enterprises, and small and medium-sized companies licensed by the MCC to gather and get rid of waste at authorized disposal sites.”

The MCC director stated that he is willing to carry on with this daily activity, which will occur day and night. The goal of this new approach, he insisted, is to integrate Monrovia and its environs with other countries. At the same time, he asked vendors in the Waterside marketplace to work with the sanitation crew.
