Monrovia, Liberia – The establishment of a war crimes and economic court in Liberia has received support from Senator Jeremiah Koung, the standard bearer of the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR) and Unity Party Joseph Boakai’s running mate. Despite allegations of war crimes involving his close ally, Senator Koung, who comes from the infamous Nimba County Senior Prince Y. Johnson’s party made the statement when he spoke on local radio stations in Monrovia.

According to the senator for Nimba County, the creation of a court for war and economic crimes will bring justice to Liberians whose family members were killed during the thousands-person civil war in Liberia. Although he favors the creation of the war and economic crime court, Senator Koung, who is currently Joseph Boakai’s running mate in the Unity Party, stated that Liberians must refrain from politicizing the court’s creation.

The terrible state of the roads leading to the southeast, where President George Weah is from, concerned Senator Koung. He claimed that after George Weah became president, residents of the Southeast continue to face difficulties due to poor roads.
