Monrovia, Liberia – Information Minister Jerolinmek Piah has cautioned former president George Weah against criticizing the administration if he wishes to be respected in his role as a former leader. Minister Piah reported that the political leader of the CDC recently appeared on a local radio station, disparaging the Unity Party-led administration.
Former President Weah chastised President Joseph Boakai for not delivering on the change pledged during the 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections, Minister Piah said during a news conference held by the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism in Monrovia on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
He criticized the former Liberian leader remarks, saying they were regrettable coming from someone whose government had subjected the country to additional sanctions, widespread corruption, and covert assassinations. In addition, Minister Jerolinmek Piah reiterated his pledge to provide clarification on matters of national concern.
Former president Weah said that the Unity Party government had begun violating Liberian laws and engaging in nepotism by placing family members in important positions inside the government in less than six months.
The political leader of the CDC pledged to return in 2029 and voiced unhappiness in the Unity Party Government for allegedly doing little to improve the lives of Liberians.
