The National Federation of Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Liberia (NAFOMTAL) has graduated over a thousand five hundred motorcyclists. The training which began on Monday, May 16, 2022, at the historic Providence Island in Central Monrovia came to an end on Saturday, May 21, 2022.

The training according to the union president Samuel Deapah was centered around physical fitness, Discipline, Road safety, Customer care, and public safety amongst others. Mr. Deapah lamented that the training is intended to buttress the efforts of the Liberia National Police (LNP) in regulating traffic across the country.

Serving as keynote speaker the Deputy Director-General for Administration for Motorcycle Affairs at the ministry of transport Jenkins Zayzay spoke on the theme: “Be an example of change” he recommitted government support to the National Federation of Motorcycle and Tricycle Association of Liberia (NAFOMTAL) as the only legitimate federation in the country.

The Deputy Director-General noted that the Ministry of Transport will work with NAFOMTAL in ensuring that the right thing is done for the improvement of all motorcyclists in the country. He acknowledged that motorcyclists are a very essential group of people operating in the country and they are contributing immensely to the growth and development of the country, in such, there is a need for the federation to be included in the National budget by the Liberian Legislature.

He called on NAFOMTAL leadership to constructively engage members of the Legislature in ensuring that the bill at the Liberian Legislature is passed into law. He at the same time called on the motorcyclists to desist from habits that have the propensity to bring disgrace to the federation and discourage citizens from motorcyclists.

Mr. Zayzay stressed that the image of motorcyclists in the country is something to question due to some motorcyclists. He tasked the responsibility on the shoulder of the current Leadership of NAFOMTAL to revamp the entire sector. He also urged them to work along with the Liberia National Police (LNP) in performing their duties to avoid further embarrassment.
