NEC Provisional Results: Boakai Seizes Early Advantage

Monrovia, Liberia – Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the presidential candidate of the opposition Unity Party, has jumped out to an early lead in the 2023 general elections. Results from six polling locations in Bomi and Montserrado Counties show that Boakai is ahead of President George Weah.

As reported by the National Elections Commission, President Weah of the ruling CDC received 1,134 votes, or 28.54% of the total 4,126 votes cast from 13 of the 171 polling stations in Bomi County. The UP candidate received 2543 votes, or 64.1 percent of the total voters.

Out of the 1,243 votes cast in three polling places in Montserrado County, Boakai received 576 votes, or 47.56%, and President Weah received 547 votes, or 45.17 percent.
