Monrovia, Liberia – Finance Minister, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan as part of his interactions with overseas partners, has met the Country Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Expressing his satisfaction in working with the Ministry team in implementing reforms that will drive development, the International Monetary Fund Country (IMF) Representative Joel C. Okwnekei paid a courtesy call to the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) on Tuesday.

“The IMF is pleased to partner with Liberia instituting reforms to confront challenges facing the country. These reforms are significant to Liberia being included in the Extended Credit Facility (ECF) program of the IMF. The IMF is grateful for all of the collaborations with the MFDP.”

Following the Fund’s Annual Meetings set for Washington DC from October 21 to October 26, the IMF Country Representative indicated there will be a Mission visit to Liberia from November 16 to 19, 2024.

Finance Minister Ngafuan thanked the IMF for being a partner over years that kept financing and implementing significant development initiatives all throughout the nation. He urged the new Country Representative of the IMF to build relationships with key stakeholders in the country.

Minister Ngafuan urged the IMF to assist staff members of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in capacity building initiatives thereby enhancing national development and growth in all spheres of the economy.
