Monrovia, Liberia – Some supporters of FC Fassell allegedly organized a protest against Coach Ivan Mineaet prior to Sunday’s FC Fassell vs. Heaven Eleven game at the SKD practice ground.
“Either you win our games or you go back to Belgium; win our games or leave, any attempt to give us defeat or draw, we will chase you out of Liberia,” the supporters were seen holding banners with various slogans.
Even though FC Fassell won the game 1-0, coach Ivan Mineaet described the supporters’ unrest as being orchestrated by certain insiders.
With 17 points from seven league games, the victory put Fassell back on top the league table. After a humiliating 3-1 loss to Bea Mountain at the Tusa field on Sunday, they are one point clear of the team in second place, Bea Mountain, who are on 16 points.
As a follower commented, Coach Mineaet stated that the supporters should be pleased with his incredible efforts to turn things around because he started the squad from nothing.
Regarding the championship, the Belgium coach stated that he is taking it game by game until the end, but it is still too early to start talking about it.
In the meanwhile, FC Fassell was eliminated from the Orange Cup with 1-0 loss against District 17 Academy in the opening round. The league is now the big money spenders’ only chance.
