Monrovia, Liberia – Instead of getting pregnant, Liberian youths have been advised by President Joseph N. Boakai to pursue education in order to contribute to the country’s development.

“My message to all teens is to go to school instead of becoming pregnant in order to find a career. We want you to grow and develop this nation.”

He maintained that when adolescents receive an education, they will become proud of both themselves and their Liberian heritage.

The President made the remakes went he dedicated and cut the ribbon of the newly Maternal Ward of the Pipeline Health Center that was renovated by Liberia’s First Lady Madam Kartumu Yarta Boakai in Paynesville.

However, President Boakai has called on the Administrators of the Pipeline Health Center to take proper care of the hospital, most especially, the newly renovated maternal ward.

“When you go to a hospital, the first thing you think on is the condition of the place. If you are in need of something that this hospital can not afford, please call on the Ministry of Health.”

President Boakai explained that there are plans to ensure nurses have their own buses for work; but called on them to be caring. According to the Amb. Boakai, Liberia will never move backward; saying; citizens will get good life in a not too far future.

He promised health workers a far treatment by his government; adding that health workers need to benefit from what they have learned.

The Liberian leader narrated that his government is working to ensure Liberian reach to a stage that responsible leadership will provide for its people and make sure they are protected.

For her part, Liberia’s First Lady, Madam Boakai said that the transformation of the facility is a symbol of her resilience, hope and the power of partnership.

She explained that it is a reminder of a collective responsibility to address critical challenges of maternal and unrented mortality in Liberia.

Madam Boakai stated, when she first visited the hospital, it was in a deployable state; describing it as unfaith to serve pregnant women and new born babies.

According to her, as a First Lady, it is her responsibility to ensure no woman in Liberia faces the danger of child birth without the care she deserves.

“Every woman should be able to approach mortality room with confidence, knowing that she will have the right care, support and the promise of returning home safely with her baby in her hands,” she explained.

Liberia’s First Lady said that maternal is also link to the fight for justice and equity of women.

Madam Boakai said ending harmful practices and ensuring access to quality care and empowering women to make choices above their health are essential to Liberia.

She added that the government will work to ensure no woman or girl is left behind.

The First Lady of Liberia stated that every pregnancy should be a celebration, not a source of fear but where every child is welcome in the world with joy and love.
