Paynesville, Liberia – The first modern Liberian Football Association headquarters, which cost over 1.5 million dollars and is the institution’s first of its sort since 1936, have been officially dedicated by Liberia’s President George Manneh Weah.
The dedication ceremony took place at the Swakamore Community on the SKD On Friday, April 28, 2023, in the Swakamore Community on SKD Boulevard, a dedication ceremony was place.
The building’s completion was hailed by the President as a turning point for national football. He complimented Mustapha Raji, President of the Liberia Football Association, and all LFA executives for their outstanding work in advancing the sport in that country.
The President praised the LFA’s past leadership while also praising the ministry of youth and sports for its contributions. President Weah promised the global football governing body his ongoing support for the growth of football, particularly in Africa.
“I would like to use this opportunity to thank Mr. Raji and his staff for their efforts in enhancing football in the nation. I feel privileged to constantly identify with football and other sports as a past participant.”
The World Football Governing Body FIFA, according to Mustapha Raji, President of the Liberia Football Association, fully funded the project. The LFA president added that the initiative was made possible by the flawless cooperation of the former LFA executives who put in more effort to see their goals realized.
“I am thrilled to dedicate the first LFA Headquarters today, but I also want to thank the former LFA leaders for their contributions to this undertaking. Although FIFA founded this project entirely through its 2.0, I’m glad that the LFA now has a headquarters thanks to everyone’s combined efforts.”
FIFA Special Representative, Member of FIFA Council and CAF Executive Committee Member, Amaju Pinnich representing FIFA President Gianni Infantino, thanked the Liberian Government and President Weah for the development of sports in the country.
Also speaking at the event, Minister Zeogar Wilson highlighted that sports are making tremendous progress under the Weah government as compared to other administrations. The Youth and Sports Minister acknowledged that President Weah’s regime has no equal in terms of sports development, adding that, every major federation in the country has made a great impact in international competitions because of the government support.
“Former President Samuel Kanyon Doe created football at the greatest level, which I also benefited from, but President Weah is unmatched in terms of sports development, according to Doe. As a former athlete, I haven’t noticed such efforts in our country to improve sports at all levels as they have under this regime. Thanks to government funding provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, all of the major national sports have today had an impact on international competitions.”
