• Promises to pay all graduates’ fees.

The Africa Methodist Episcopal Zion University in Liberia has Conferred on President George Manneh Weah,  the Degree of Doctor of Letters (L.H.D) honoris causa in International Relations on their 31st  Commencement  Convocation  at their Po River  University Campuses in Bomi County; Marking the Liberian  President third Honorary Doctor Degrees.

Speaking at the convention ceremony, on Thursday, June 9, 2022, the Acting President of the University, Dr.  Benjamin Dorme Latery said, President Weah’s nomination came about his many contributions to Liberia and the University during his active football career while Liberia was experiencing devastating   Civil war.

He said, with his continued support to the Nation before and during his presidency, their board of trustees agreed to Conferred in him the Honorary Doctor of Letters (L.H.D) honoris causa in International Relations. AMEZU Acting President,  Dr. Latery noted, that their Honorary Award is not based on political affiliation but on recognition as they are a full faith-based institution.

According to him, President  Weah brought great prizes and recognition globally to Liberia through professional football; when the country was struggling to end a protracted Civil war that ravished every sector of the society. 

” During such dark history of our Country, you became an outstanding International Liberian footballer-turned Politician and then became the 24th president of the Republic of Liberia”  he noted.

Receiving his Honoris Doctor degree, the Liberian Leader encouraged the graduates to persist in all they do. Mr. Weah said that no one can escape the challenges of life, noting that life comes with challenges but it is upon one to work it through. Promising to pay the graduating class fees which are a little over 486 in the amount of USD$450 per person, President alarmed that the graduates are all ready for the job market as such, they should all go out and perform as professionals for the development of the country. President Weah praised the graduates for their continuous commitment and perseverance during their studies, which he said helped them attain their goals. The President also urged the graduates to dream big ambitions, but not to let their dreams rule them. Mr. Weah informed the graduates that not many dreams come true without hard work, hardship, and sacrifice, and encouraged them to wake up from their dreams and work toward real-world goals.

After winning the highest position in the land (Presidency) at the back of a mixed antic education campaign slogans in 2017 and his subsequent takeover of the mantle of authority at the helm of power in Liberia, the Liberian leader, George M. Weah has since received two separate honorary doctorate degrees from two higher institutions of learning in his native country, Liberia.

The first was from the Cuttington University in Suacoco, Bong County in early 2018 later followed by the nation’s highest institution of learning, the University of Liberia on Capitol Hill in Monrovia in 2019.
