Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and people of the Republic of Italy on the occasion commemorating the Festa della Repubblica (Republic Day) on June 2, 2024.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, Festa della Repubblica, in English, Republic Day is the Italian National Day and Republic Day, which is celebrated on 2 June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government, following the Second World War and the fall of fascism.
As they celebrate this momentous occasion, President Boakai on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia offers heartfelt greetings to His Excellency Mr. Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic of Italy, and via him to the Government and People of Italy.
“We joyfully partake in this commemoration, which marks Italy’s independence anniversary and highlights the enduring benefits derived from our bilateral and multilateral cooperation”, President Boakai stated.
During his term, the leader of Liberia expressed confidence that the continued relationship between the two countries and peoples will continue to develop.
President Boakai emphasized that long-standing harmony underpins the friendship between Liberia and Italy, which is strengthened by cooperative efforts in fields including global security, agriculture, education, and tourism.
Then he prayed for President Mattarella to remain well and happy, as well as for Italy’s people to continue to advance and thrive.
