PROVIDES ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED BAGS OF RICE

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai has invited Liberians with disabilities to participate in discussions about their challenges and national issues as part of the events leading to the 77th July 26 Independence Day celebrations.

The EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town hosted the engagement on Wednesday, July 23, 2024, with the theme “Building new Liberia for all Liberians.” People with disabilities got the chance to showcase their talents, such as acting, head cuts, and messages of peace, throughout the engagement.

The Liberian leader in his speech noted that those who are disabled should receive care so they can feel a part of their surroundings or nation. A responsible government, according to the President, ought to be able to attend to the needs of all of its constituents, including those who are disabled.

He claimed that ensuring that every Liberian is a part of the nation is the engagement’s “Building new Liberia for all Liberians.” Indicating that “we are committed to making sure that we are a responsible and inclusive government for everybody,” President Boakai said.

He clarified that his government will collaborate with the second lady to ascertain the precise challenges encountered by the community of those living with disabilities. The leader of Liberia stated that everyone in the country has an obligation to ensure that Liberia develops into a responsible country.

According to Madam Synleseh Stephenie Dahn-Koung, the Executive Director of Group of 77 (People living with Disabilities) and the Second Lady of Liberia, the President demonstrates his affection for individuals with disabilities.

Since taking over as the Group of 77’s executive director, Madam Dahn-Koung has made an effort to enhance the lives of those who are disabled. She informed the President that individuals with disabilities possess the qualities and capacities to make valuable contributions to the country.

The Second Lady of Liberia urged all allies to provide the disabled community with the tools required to enable them. As a token of independence, the President gave 1,500 bags to those with disabilities at the conclusion of their participation.
