President George Manneh Weah, on Friday, November 19, 2021, officially cut the ribbon to the new offices of the Liberia International Shipping Corporate Registry, LISCR on 11th Street, Sinkor. The President expressed the hope that the modern premises will help facilitate the crucial works LISCR does on behalf of the Liberian Government.
“I am happy to be here today to participate in the program marking the official opening of the new offices of the Liberia International Shipping Corporate Registry (LISCR). Despite the many challenges you have faced over the years, you have managed to contribute effectively and sufficiently to the Liberian Registry for which we remain grateful,” President Weah noted.
According to the Executive Mansion, President Weah stated that Liberia has the fastest growing registry, making it the second-largest fleet in the world. He described the development as a confirmation of the effective management of the Liberian maritime program by LISCR and the Liberia Maritime Commission.
The Liberian President at the same time hailed the healthy collaboration between LISCR and the Commission, adding that such a spirit of cooperation will help keep the country’s Maritime program at the helm of progress.
The Liberian Leader used the occasion to renew his calls to government institutions about the need to move from renting private buildings to owning their own structures. He urged the management of LISCR to seriously consider constructing their own headquarters to complement its desirable status just as other government agencies have been doing in recent times.
President Weah cautioned the LISCR Team that, he looks forward to the day he will officially dedicate a state-of-the-art office complex for LISCR, as he is likely to do for the Liberia Maritime Commission as soon as possible. The head of the Liberia Maritime Commission, Mr. Len Eugene Nagbe, will soon dedicate its new office complex in Congo, thus bringing to an end years of renting private properties.
