Monrovia, Liberia – The controversial political analyst and senatorial candidate known as “Prophet Key” has been released from prison by the Liberia National Police pending legal proceeding. Following accusations of forgery connected to his rejected candidacy for the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial by-election, Justin Oldpa Yeazehn, the widely criticized political analyst and senatorial candidate known was detained by the police, on Monday, April 14.
On Monday, April 14, 2025, Prophet Key was asked to appear and be questioned at the Liberia National Police (LNP) Headquarters. The police operation came after the National Elections Commission (NEC) formally complained to the Ministry of Justice that Yeazehn had applied to contest the April 22 by-election using a forged Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) ID card.
Monday’s summons followed the Justice Ministry’s request that the Inspector General of Police look into the situation. At around 10 a.m., Prophet Key’s attorney, Atty. Samwar Fallah, said he escorted his client to the LNP Headquarters. He noted they were there untill late night. Atty. Fallah claimed that despite his repeated demands, the police refused to let his client go but was kept at the police headquarters detention.
The NEC disqualified Prophet Key for submitting a phony BVR card number (03604913266), which is not included in the commission’s electoral database, which is the source of the problem. The Nimba County by-election screening procedure found the fake paper, and NEC believed it was sufficient evidence to disqualify him.
The problem was initially brought to light when Prophet Key was charged in public by Printiss Domah, secretary-general of the Unity Party Youth Congress in Nimba, of providing a fake BVR number. Later, an independent fact-checking group “Local Voices Liberia” verified that Prophet Key was not on the official Final Registration Roll (FRR) created during the 2023 Biometric Voter Registration process and that the number was incorrect.
