Monrovia, Liberia – Representative Frank Saah Foko of Montserrado County District #9 has vowed to remove President Joseph Nyumah Boaka from office if he disobeys the law.

In an interview with a group of journalists on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the Liberia National Aquaculture Authority, the Montserrado District #9 lawmaker stated that President Boakai’s first month in office has demonstrated his incapacity to steer the nation’s affairs, noting that he is currently drafting a letter to impeach the president on the grounds that he cannot govern the nation for the ensuing two years.

“If President Boakai shows us within the next month that he is incapable of leading this nation, we will make sure he is impeached. Mr. President, I can tell you one thing: we will respect and collaborate with you, but we will never tolerate you disobeying our constitution.”

Hon. Foko alleged that President Boakai has wrongfully removed Tunure officials from government, noting that the President is overdoing it.

“The president has failed to represent Liberians outside of Liberia twice. There are serious problems in the area, and another president has gone there to look for a solution, but the president did not show up there. They are breaking the law everywhere. Let’s examine how a civil servant can be appointed at the Port of Buchanan. It is legally prohibited for any president to select someone for the managerial role at Road Funds. Is this the change he was referring to? Is this the sort of rescue for which he arrived in Liberia? I believe the president needs to unwind because he is acting inappropriately and excessively.”

The legislator for district #9 stated that he will only collaborate with the president if he abides by the law and that his choice was made with the interests of the Liberian people in mind rather than a political party.
