Monrovia, Liberia – In defense of his actions, which included reportedly defrauding over 90 people of 87,000 US dollars, the former religious advisor to former Liberian President George Weah said that he did not coerce anyone into giving him money to fly them to Australia.
Presently in prison at the Monrovia Central Prison, Reverend Nimely said he warned the ninety plus Liberians about the possibility that their visa money would not be refunded, but he advised them to pray for divine intervention instead.
Reverend Nimely will remain in jail until he is prosecuted because the majority of the insurance companies and attorneys were unable to obtain a release for him.

A complaint filed by a few victims, spearheaded by H. Momo Fortune, Jr., led to the arrest of Rev. M. Emmanuel Nimely on Sunday, June 2, 2024 in Dwazon Community, Roberts International Airport Highway.
Early in August 2023, according to the police preliminary investigation, Suspect Nimely received nine hundred seventy US dollars (USD970.00) each from ninety (90) people, for a total of eighty-seven thousand three hundred US dollars (USD87,300.00), under the pretense of transporting them to Australia for a church conference.
