Monrovia, Liberia – The Committees on Defense, Security, Intelligence and Veteran Affairs, and Judiciary, Claims and Petitions have been recognized as the most productive committees in the first quarter of the Liberian Senate by the Leadership.
Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence made a special remark on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, following the 55th Legislature’s return to a special session. She stated that both committees have been very aggressive in carrying out their given duties, and that they will be compensated appropriately and legally.
She emphasized that the Senate’s assistance, via the Committee on Defense and Security, which is chaired by Senator Momo Cyrus of Lofa County, was crucial in bringing the situation at Bea Mountain Mining Corporation under control so that discussions and engagements could take place.
Despite his brief tenure in the Senate, the Lofa County Senator thanked the Liberian Senate Leadership for their foresight in presenting his committee with such a distinguished honor.
In an interview with legislative reporters, Senator Momo Cyrus thanked all fifteen (15) committee members for their collaborative efforts in supporting and collaborating with his leadership, which has resulted in the committee’s historic accomplishment.
The senator from Lofa County emphasized that he was chosen by his constituents to serve their interests and the nation with passion, and he added that receiving this distinction is a direct reflection of his devotion, love, and commitment to the nation.
