Bomi County Senator, Edwin Melvin Snowe has alarmed over what he calls unscrupulous mining activities by unknown individuals taking place in the county Mano Camp #2 of Klay District.
He said these unknown individuals are carrying on the illegal acts at the determent of the ordinary inhabitants of the area. Deliberating on communication he wrote to Senate Plenary on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, Senator Snowe recounted that since the closure of the county’s mining company; many citizens of Bomi County have continued to experience poor living conditions as a result of illegal mining.
The Bomi County Senator further informed his legislative colleagues that those corrupt individuals are allegedly digging under the homes of peaceful citizens in search of minerals.
Meanwhile, the Liberian Senate has received Senator Snowe’s communication and forwarded same to the Senate’s Committee on Lands, Mines, and Energy; mandating that body to visit Bomi County and report to plenary in two weeks.
