Sinkor, Monrovia – The Unity Party candidate in the 2023 run-off election has received the endorsement of the political head of the Liberia First Movement (LFM). At his Central Monrovia office on Monday, October 30, 2023, Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh supported the UP standard bearer in the run-off, stating that it was in the best interests of Liberians.

The entire Liberia First Movement-LFM Party membership as well as Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh, a 2023 presidential candidate, have endorsed Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the standard bearer of the Unity Party. Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh is a defeated candidate in the October 10, 2023, elections. According to him, the vision of the LFM is in line with the UP, and as such, the LFM remains supportive of the development of Liberia and it’s people.

Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh subsequently severed his connection with the CDC despite having backed George Manneh Weah, the political leader, and the ruling CDC party in the 2017 presidential election. He claimed that the Weah administration declined to act in the best interests of the people of Liberia. He listed a number of reasons why the Weah administration should not be reelected, including drug usage and retrialistic killings.
