Monrovia- The Executive Protective Services (EPS) Deputy Director for Operations, Seward Briggs, has received an award from journalists under the banner Strategic Journalist Committee for his outstanding leadership in maintaining the President’s safety and preserving the country’s arduous-won peace.

Veteran Journalist Rhodoxon Fayiah, presented the prize and commended Director Briggs for his dedication and perseverance in carrying out his duties as one of the top members of the exclusive presidential guard.

Our main motivation for identifying with you is to support you so that your protection of the president will help bring this country ahead. We have noticed a lot of things around, and lately what interests us is your performance in safeguarding the president.

Veteran Journalist Fayiah continued that the president had received security advice from the EPS Deputy Director for Operations, Seward Briggs, and others that had, over time, produced positive outcomes.

“We have observed that you are working hard to achieve a specific level in your execution of duties, and we are here today to support you. There are difficulties, as everyone is aware, but do not let them discourage you. Let such difficulties be a part of you, and continue to conduct yourself professionally.”

The Briggs award is exceptional and comes with a certificate that will be forever remembered by him and his children for his contributions to Liberian society through the security sector, according to Chairman Fayiah.

This Certificate of Honor of Seward Briggs’s outstanding leadership, particularly during the recent guns and ammunition catch incident at the Free Port of Monrovia, which helped to maintain peace among Liberians. Chairman Fayiah reads from the certificate, “We, therefore, present this special honor name and style “Most Outstanding Law Enforcement of the Year 2022-2023 issued on the 18th of January 2023.

Seward Briggs, the EPS’s Deputy Director for Operations, praised the Strategic Journalist Committee’s members and leadership for their recognition of his work over the years and said he took the honor to heart.

“I’m extremely grateful for this honor, and I must congratulate you because I had no idea that people were observing you as you worked. But let me mention that I did earn this honor, and I must thank you for it.”

Strategic Journalist Committee was established in 2007 in order to support the Press Union of Liberia, promote press freedom, and other national concerns that promote the growth and development of Liberia.

The ceremony took place at the grounds of the Executive Mansion Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
