The Campus-based Vanguard Student Unification Party (SUP) on the main campus of the University of Liberia (UL) is demanding the University’s authority and all other public and private tertiary institutions across the country to immediately publish the academic profile of all lecturers at the various public universities across the country.

SUP said they endorse the Campaign for Academic Crimes Court (CACC) headed by former student activist Martin K.N. Kollie.

The CACC through its Chairman Kollie recently exposed over 30 different individuals in Liberia who serve and work in both private and public spaces who claimed to have degrees that CACC terms as totally bogus and fake and their universities do not exist.

According to SUP, they believed the publication of lecturers’ profiles at various universities across the country will enable them and the CACC and other citizens to conduct a comprehensive and qualitative verification of lecturers’ degrees and academic awards, adding that they are demanding credential audit at the University of Liberia.

Speaking at a major press conference Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Capitol Hill Campus of the University of Liberia, SUP Chairman Mustapha N. Kanneh said when that process is done it will uplift the image of the University of Liberia and other tertiary institutions, encouraging transparency and further expose the many faculty members who have been hiding behind fake degree as a window to continue to be employees of these institutions.

He said their quest is genuine advocacy that seeks to carry on a robust credential audit that gears toward exposing academic malfeasance and systemic fraud in the best interest of the forward march of the country, urging all patriotic Liberians to overwhelmingly rally their support for the just cause.

SUP, however, disclosed that since the CACC exposed the bogus degree of the dean of the Liberia College Mr. Josephus Gray, and the dean of the Science College Mr. James McCain at UL, the university authority has done nothing to investigate the allegation and they continue to occupy their position at the university.

Chairman Kanneh indicates that they see this uncommon tight-lipped and untended silence of the university authorities as a rag in the face of the students and public alike who look upon the University’s Academic Sanctity and honesty.

SUP is calling for the immediate dismissal of those deans declaring them persona non grata at the campuses of UL, adding that UL can never be heaven to hire unmerited degrees and bogus paper.
