Monrovia, Liberia – The Anthoney General and Minister of Justice, Cllr. Musa Dean, Liberia Solicitor General, Cllr. Nyanti Tuahn, and Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie were each fined USD$500 by the Supreme Court of Liberia for disobeying court orders.

They were all ordered by Liberia Chief Justice sie-A-Nyene Yuoh on Tuesday, June 6, 2023, to pay the fine within 72 hours and turn in the receipt to the court marshal’s office.

Recently, the Liberian government lost USD$100 million narcotics lawsuit, which led the justice minister to accuse the court. On Tuesday, June 6, 2023, there was a court hearing that required the presence of the Justice Minister, Cllr. Dean, and the Information Minister, Ledgerhood Rennie.

The Solicitor General appealed to the court on behalf of the Ministers of Justice and Information, claiming that they both left the country on the day of the hearing.

The two Ministers’ appeals were rejected by Chief Justice Yuoh, who noted that they had ample time to consider their options.
