UBA, MCC Lead Beach Cleanup To Boost Environmental Awareness

Monrovia, Liberia – The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Liberia, in collaboration with the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has concluded a major beach cleaning exercise in the God Bless You Community on Sinkor 1st Street, reaffirming the bank’s commitment to environmental protection and community development.

The initiative, brought together staff of UBA, workers of the MCC, and residents of the coastal community who joined efforts to remove plastic waste and other debris from the shoreline.

The exercise formed part of UBA Liberia’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, raising awareness about proper waste disposal, and supporting efforts to maintain a cleaner and healthier coastline in Monrovia.

Speaking during the exercise, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of UBA Liberia, Ayokunle Olajubu, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to initiatives that protect the environment and enhance community well-being.

“Environmental sustainability remains a key pillar of UBA’s CSR activities. We remain committed to fostering a clean and safe environment,” Olajubu said.

He also thanked the Monrovia City Corporation for its support and guidance, noting that the city authority provided the tools needed to successfully carry out the cleanup.

For his part, the Director for Waterfront Park and Recreation at the Monrovia City Corporation, Eva Holder, commended UBA for undertaking the initiative and encouraged the bank to continue supporting environmental activities across the city.

For his part, the Chairman of the God Bless You Community, Sumo, praised UBA for organizing the cleanup exercise, noting that the initiative not only improved sanitation along the beach but also raised awareness among residents about the importance of protecting the environment.

Meanwhile, UBA Liberia also used the occasion to conduct a financial literacy awareness session for community residents, providing information aimed at improving financial knowledge and responsible banking practices.

The United Bank for Africa Liberia says it remains committed to delivering impactful Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives that support environmental sustainability and community development.
