The University of Liberia will in the next two years introduce Fisheries Science at the school to prepare the next generation to manage Liberia’s fisheries sector. This was disclosed on Wednesday by National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority Director-General, Madam Emma Metieh Glassco.
NaFAA Director General Emma Glassco at a program interacting with students of the Global Harvest Institute’s Mentorship of Madam Emma Metieh Glassco House of Innovation in West Point Community on Wednesday, November 24, 2021, said, with support from the World Bank and the Liberian government, her institution is working out all modalities for the introduction of the Degree by 2023.
NaFAA Boss disclosed that the fisheries sector offers huge prospects for Liberia’s economic recovery process, but it has been noticed that most students do not take interest in ocean governance and fisheries management.
According to Madame Glassco, she believes working with the University of Liberia to teach Fisheries Science will kindle interest among young Liberians.
