AS UNITY PARTY PROMISES TO SHOCK WEAH CDC

Monrovia, Liberia – In honor of the Unity Party’s official campaign start, thousands of party members, supporters, sympathizers, and Alliance members descended on the Antoinette Tubman Stadium in Central Monrovia on September 17, 2023, as well as other locations across the nation.

From different pick-up points on Sunday, the huge crowd defied a heavy downpour of rain and marched through the principal street of Monrovia following weeks of publicity by the UP 2023 Campaign executive committee members.

It was observed that their presence at the ATS and parts of Monrovia caused traffic jam in different locations of the city despite the ceremony been held on a non-working day in the country. It is reported that similar programs were held in Lofa, Nimba, Grand Gedeh, Bassa, Bong and other counties.

Amb. Joseph Nyumah Boakai, the standard bearer for the Unity Party, thanked Liberians for their turnout during a five-minute speech to supporters at the ATS on Sunday, September 17, 2023. He also pledged to strengthen all areas of the country and inspire hope for a better Liberia if elected president.

According to the UP political leader, corruption has become a way of life, and national leaders are doing nothing to stop it. He said Liberians have endured a lot and need to be saved, and as part of accountability, he promised to audit all government officials. He specifically mentioned the issue of the uncontrollable use of illicit drugs in and around Liberia, particularly with regard to the involvement of the youth.

In conversation with some UP supporters, they pledged to surprise the Weah CDC and vote Boakai for a better Liberia. Theresa Brooks asserted that their votes will shock the CDC just as they have shocked Liberians. The CDC government, she said, has no respect for professionalism; as a result, her group, Professional for Boakai, will run a nationwide campaign for Boakai’s presidency.
