Paynesville, Liberia – Liberia Vice President Jewel Haword Taylor has disclosed that the CDC-Led government has failed to provide 40% percent women participation in elected positions promised by the government.

Appearing as guest on Monday, August 21, 2023 on the Super Morning Show on state radio ELBC in Paynesville, VP Taylor said it is disappointing for the party to failed on the implementation of the 40% percent women’s participation in elected position.

She said, president Weah as feminist in Chief supported women’s participation in every aspect as such, the party could have adhere to the party’s mandate something she described as unfortunate situation.

The NPP political Leader however pledge her support to Montserrado County electoral District #10 Representative Candidate Josephine Davies, running on the CDC ticket and Bong County electoral District #6 Representative Moima Briggs Mensah in the October 10, 2023 Presidential and Legislative elections.

She cautioned women in the country to remain united in the midst of the numerous challenges they are confronted with believing that things will get better soon.

It can be recorded that the Coaliation for Democratic Change (CDC) Chairman  Mulbah K. Morlu reaffirmed the Party’s Commitment to ensuring 40% Women’s participation in the pending 2023 general and Presidential Elections.

Chairman Morlu, at the time noted the commitment by the CDC, was part of the decision reached among its executive committee members; to ensure women compete with their male counterparts in any  Legislative elections.

He noted that 7 Districts out of the 17 electoral districts in Montserrado County, was exclusively for women in the Coalition for Democratic change something far from the reality today. Chairman Morlue at the time dismissed the possibility of male participation in those Districts.
He then expressed that Women are very essential in the decision-making process as such, there was an urgent need to support women in their quest to participate in electoral processes in the country.
He made the statement on Wednesday, July  6, 2022, at the CDC National head Quarters in Monrovia.
