The Liberia Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission Executive Director Bobby Whitfield has threatened to take the National Public Health Institute of Liberia to task if they fail to implement memorandum of understanding signed between the two government institutions.
It can be recalled that on September 2, 2021, an MOU between WAASH commission and NPHIL was meant to further cement the relations and help further enhance collaboration in the area of water testing as well as WASH service provision, both in communities, health facilities including public institutions.
Addressing the Ministry of Information press briefing on Thursday, November 18, 2021, Director Whitfield noted that providing safe drinking water for all Liberians must be the priority of public health institutions as such, it is expected that authorities at NPHIL begin to implement the agreement reached which authorized them to carry out testing of water across Liberia.
According to the WASH commission boss, his institution will remain vigilant in tackling and combating the consumption of unsafe drinking by all Liberians, stressing there is a need for the national public health institute to be robust in finding amicable solutions to the sale of unsafe drinking water in the country.
