Monrovia, Liberia – The Center for Youth Civil Leadership and Environmental Studies (CYCLES) has concluded a day Youth led multi-stakeholder Dialogue in Monrovia. The discussion centered on educating young people about important national environmental and climate policies and including them in the implementation process.

The issue of climate change education has become more pressing at CYCLES because of predictions that climate change may exacerbate extreme weather patterns and lower crop yields, resulting in food shortages and other problems in Liberia and around the world.

Giving an overview of the dialogue, CYCLES Executive Director Beyan Harris said young people have the power to make a difference in their communities and the world at large. He indicated that the Center for Youth Civic Leadership and Environmental Studies is involved with mobilizing young people and educating them about climate action and policies around Liberia.

Meanwhile, EPA’s national focal person for action on climate empowerment, Teddy Taylor, encouraged everyone’s efforts in the process. He said the task is not only for the Environmental Protection Agency but is put forward toward all Liberians and those living in Liberia in the fight against environmental pollution.

The day-long dialogue was held at the YMCA conference hall in central Monrovia, on Friday, June 23, 2023.
