Sen. Karnga-Lawrence Accepts To Serve As Boakai’s Running Mate Come 2023 elections

Sen. Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the embattled political leader of the opposition Liberty party, has stated her view that, if chosen, she will accept the job of running mate to Unity Party nominee Joseph Nyumah Boakia. Sen. Karnga-Lawrence finally broke her silence on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at her Capitol Hill office in Monrovia after remaining silent for nearly a year amid claims and counterclaims linking her to the position of former VP Boakai’s running mate.

The Bassa Lawmaker mentioned that she has observed the waves of political support towards her bit ahead of the pick of running mate to former VP Boakai. Senator Karnga-Lawrence was confident that the troubled Liberty party will decide who will become president of Liberia due to how formidable the LP has been in past Elections.

But she asserted that her work as a senator for Grand Bassa County and her handling of women’s concerns would speak for her. Nothing indicates that the Liberty Party has experienced a widening political rift since the passing of Cllr. Charles Brumskine, the party’s founder. The party has been split in two; one faction is committed to Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, the political leader, while the other is committed to Musa Hassan Bility, the party’s thorny chairman.

Speaking to a cross-section of Journalists, the Bassa Lawmaker mentioned that the 2023 election is crucial as such, there is a need for the opposition to unite in order to achieve their aim and objective. She at the same time mentioned that she has the courage to rebuild, the courage for rehabilitation, and the courage to transform major sectors across the country.
