    Weah Announces Readiness for 2029.

Monrovia, Liberia – Former Liberian President George Manneh Weah has stated that he is prepared to take back the country’s leadership and promised that the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) will do all in its ability to regain control.

Amb. Weah criticized the Unity Party-led government of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Saturday, April 12, at the CDC’s offices in Congo Town, where the party was launching its national dues payment campaign. He said, the government had failed the Liberian people just a year into its rule.

To a cheering partisan audience, Mr. Weah proclaimed, “We will not rest until we reclaim our country. Those who said they came to save the nation have fallen far short. It is now up to us to turn things around and give our people hope again.”

Citing what he called presidential excessive authority, legislative lawlessness, and human rights abuses, the former president alleged that the Boakai-led government has undermined Liberia’s democratic successes.

Amb. Weah said “we have seen a deliberate breakdown of democracy due to presidential overreach and blatant disrespect for our Constitution. There is lawlessness in the legislature, and the president ignores the burning in the hallowed halls of our democracy. While millions are spent on alleged operations that provide little safety to regular Liberians, security agents are brutalizing innocent individuals. They said that we were the issue. However, the Liberian people can clearly see for themselves that the Unity Party, which is currently in power, is the true issue.”

Mr. Weah reminded his followers that the CDC peacefully conceded defeat in the interest of national stability, thou they lost the 2023 presidential election by a mere 20,000 votes. He emphasized, nonetheless, that the party is now more motivated and committed than ever to regaining state authority.

They claimed that the CDC was the issue, but he argued that Liberians now understand that the Unity Party is the true culprit. The former Liberia leader emphasized that the CDC’s return to power is a national priority and urged CDCians throughout Liberia to band together, mobilize, and create strong institutions in order to overthrow the Boakai administration. He pledged to run for president again more effectively and to win the 2029 elections.
