As Türkiye to Dispatch High-Level Delegation to Assess RIA.
Monrovia, Liberia – The Government of the Republic of Turkey has responded positively to Liberia’s request for a government-to-government (G2G) partnership on the nation’s main international gateway, the Roberts International Airport (RIA), following a recent high-level diplomatic engagement between Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Madam Sara Beysolow Nyanti, and the President of the Republic of Turkey, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, through Minister Nyanti expressed his strong desire to strengthen and expand RIA’s operations to meet international standards and promote inclusive economic growth to President Erdoğan during a meeting held on the on the sideline of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum. In order to revitalize essential national infrastructure, especially in the aviation industry, Minister Nyanti emphasized the need of strategic G2G collaboration.
In response to the request, President Erdoğan summoned Hon. Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, his Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, right away and ordered a quick investigation into Liberia’s proposal. The Turkish president underlined Turkey’s determination to investigate mechanisms for bilateral cooperation that promote Liberia’s infrastructure program through profitable alliances.
In a later interview with the media, Minister Uraloğlu affirmed the main points of the conversation and declared that a high-ranking Turkish delegation will soon visit Liberia. The group will investigate opportunities for technical and financial cooperation in addition to doing a thorough evaluation of RIA’s operating capability.
Foreign Minister Nyanti has been actively interacting with governments and international partners to draw foreign direct investment with the goal of creating jobs, developing infrastructure, and empowering the economy. This strategic engagement is in line with her larger economic diplomacy agenda.
Notably, a Burkinabe team started building traditional weaving machines for women in Lofa County after Minister Nyanti recently made a diplomatic approach to His Excellency Captain Ibrahim Traoré, Head of State of Burkina Faso. Over 1,000 Liberian women are anticipated to gain economic empowerment as a result of this program, which was inspired by the rich artisanal legacy of Burkina Faso.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs express committed to fostering collaborations that benefit the Liberian people in tangible ways. A proactive move in attracting investment in aviation and transportation infrastructure, industries supporting commerce, tourism, and regional connectivity was one of Minister Nyanti’s meeting with Türkiye.
The Turkish delegation’s impending visit represents a significant turning point in Liberia’s development of a modern, internationally competitive aviation industry supported by strategic international collaboration.
