AML Recognized Again by LRA for Outstanding Contribution to National Revenue Generation

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) has awarded ArcelorMittal Liberia (AML) with multiple awards for its outstanding contribution to the nation’s revenue collection during the 2026 Taxpayers Appreciation Awards, which were held at Paynesville City Hall. AML was acknowledged as Liberia’s top contributor in the Natural Resource Tax Sector, the nation’s third-highest overall taxpayer, and the top concessionaire paying custom duties for Fiscal Years 2024 and 2025 at the event, which honored 46 of the top taxpayers, companies, organizations, and partners.

The awards were presented as Liberia recorded its highest-ever domestic revenue performance, highlighting the growing importance of tax compliance and private sector contributions to national development. The company’s ongoing dedication to ethical business practices, adherence to national tax duties, and sustained investment in Liberia’s development is reflected in the accolade.

ArcelorMittal Liberia, one of the biggest concessionaires and investors in Liberia, is still dedicated to fostering the country’s development via sustainable mining, the construction of infrastructure, the creation of jobs, and significant contributions to government income. The LRA awards recognize taxpayers that demonstrate excellence in timely payments, consistent compliance, and significant revenue contributions.

The largest revenue mobilization in Liberia’s history occurred in 2025 when the government surpassed its domestic income target of US$804 million, according to LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah. This latest recognition adds to AML’s longstanding record of tax compliance and contribution to Liberia’s economy. Over the years, the company has consistently ranked among the country’s top taxpayers and has previously received recognition from the LRA for meeting its tax obligations and supporting domestic revenue generation.

As the biggest mining concessionaire in Liberia, AML continues to contribute significantly to the nation’s economy through taxes, customs duties, infrastructure investment, employment creation, and royalties. The company’s mining, rail, and port infrastructure operations continue to be important drivers of the economies of Grand Bassa, Bong, and Nimba Counties.

The LRA introduced the annual Taxpayers Appreciation Awards in 2017 with the goals of honoring taxpayers who comply, promoting voluntary tax compliance, and enhancing public involvement in national development through taxation.

This year’s celebration, which had as its theme “From Vision to Reality: Taxpayers Delivering a Billion Dollar Budget,” brought together residents, businesses, government representatives, and development partners to honor organizations that are contributing to Liberia’s income growth. The most recent honors support ArcelorMittal Liberia’s position as a strategic partner in the nation’s larger economic development plan as well as a significant investment in Liberia’s mining industry.
