Monrovia, Liberia – Mustapha I. Raji, president of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), has reported that he has been silent for too long but is now prepared to strike back, vowing to vehemently oppose any effort by any person or organization to harm him, his family, or the football house.
Speaking to delegates at the LFA’s 29th Ordinary Congress on Saturday, April 12, 2025, Mr. Raji expressed concern that his life and the lives of his children were under danger and called on INTERPOL, CAF, FIFA, and national security to take note.
“I will resist if you try in any way physical or otherwise and this should go to individuals who are involved in funding others out there to destroy our football,” he stated, issuing a severe warning.
We’ll fight fire with fire. Be ready for a burn if you have a fire craving. He said, “I have been silent for a long time, but if I am in my zone, I will do everything in my power to protect it.”
Raji’s remarks seemed to be in reaction to the recent assault on the LFA headquarters and inquiries over his nationality made by certain members of the Student Unification Party (SUP), of the University of Liberia.
He also challenged football stakeholders to speak out against racism and prejudice, and above all, against those he characterized as drug trafficking sponsors, money launderers, and con artists.
Stakeholders cheered loudly as Raji led the delegates in shouting, “No to money laundering, no to racism in football, no to discrimination in football.” He also mentioned that money launderers are to blame for the epidemic of drugs in Liberia, which has harmed a great number of young people.
