Monrovia, Liberia – President George Weah’s candidacy for a second term in office in the 2023 presidential and legislative elections has received official endorsement from the People’s Unification Party.
President Weah will be re-elected on October 10, 2023, according to the PUP’s National Secretary General, Moses Kwehai. Until then, the party has vowed to carefully run and execute a grass-roots campaign within its power and reach out throughout the nooks and crannies of Liberia.

At a news conference conducted after the PUP leadership meeting, which included the Governing Council and the National Executive Committee, concluded late on Wednesday night in Monrovia, Mr. Kwehai disclosed the adoption of a five-count resolution.
The resolution states that the party will work cooperatively and honestly with the Coalition for Democratic Change to design and redesign, plan and counterplan, execute, and monitor every aspect of the electoral process until the victory is decisively won at the upcoming presidential and legislative elections in October.

Therefore, the PUP directs all national officers, county chairpersons, and candidates for legislative seats running on the party’s slate in the upcoming elections to carry out this directive by fervently advocating for the election of CDC standard bearer as president of Liberia.
All district chairs and officials, mobilization committee members, clan coordination committee members, and members of the town people’s forum were also given instructions by the PUP to follow suit in ensuring that President Weah receives a strong mandate for a second term.
The leadership decided that President George Weah and the party’s legislative candidates will get support in the second extraordinary convention, which the Governing Council and national executive committee have been tasked with holding as soon as possible.

Tokpah Mulbah, the governing council’s chairman, Senator Emmanuel Nuquay, a council member, and Representative Edward Karfiah, the council’s secretary, all signed the six-page resolution.
Representative James Kolleh, a member of the PUP Legislative Caucus, Vice Chairman for Legal Affairs Garrison Yealue, and National Secretary General Moses Kwehai were among others who also signed the resolution.

Representative Samuel Kogar, national chairman; Ebenezer Wilson, national vice chairman for political affairs; and Prince Wreh, national chairman for recruitment and mobilization, declined to sign the resolution. Herbert Bryant, the National Deputy Secretary General, Amos Myers, the Assistant Secretary for Press and Publicity, and Joseph Beyan, the Chairperson of the Youth Congress, William Subuzu, Chairperson, Lofa County; and Christopher Zuannah, Chairperson, Bomi County, all declined to sign.
