The Liberia Immigration Service has announced the arrest of Okenna Emetuche, a Nigerian National for being in possession of one million Liberian Dollars counterfeit banknotes. The one million Liberian Dollars counterfeit banknotes according to the LIS were all in L$500 denominations.
Making the disclosure at a press conference, LIS Commission General, Robert Budy said, Emetuche, age 33 was arrested based on a tip-off from the Ivory Coast. He added that the crime committed by the Nigerian national has the tendency to undermine the Liberian economy and derail the efforts by the government to improve the living standards of the people of Liberia.
According to Commissioner Budy, the authorities of the Central Bank of Liberia tested and discovered that the money brought by the Nigerian were all counterfeits. He added that Okenna Emetuche will be turned over to the requisite security institutions for further investigation.
