Monrovia, Liberia – In observance of International Women’s Day, the Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia on Saturday, March 8, 2025, creatively donated a number of non-food items to female prisoners in Monrovia Central Prison.
The Association of Female Lawyers of Liberia’s president, Cllr. Philomena T. Williams, stated during the presentation that women lawyers will expedite their acts in the legal system to guarantee that women obtain justice.
She said that this year, her organization is taking advantage of the opportunity to tour prisons around the nation and connect with inmates, especially women.
“They are here,” Cllr. Williams said, “and they are innocent until proven guilty under our law.”
During the event, she reaffirmed her commitment to working with female inmates in prison institutions around the nation to preserve their rights.
Among the items supplied by AFELL are Yazz Toothpaste Cartoons, Toiletries, Sanitary Pads, Clora among others.
The donation was welcomed on behalf of the prison complex by Janet Siryee Mulbah, Deputy Superintendent for Operations at Monrovia Central Prison, who also thanked the AFELL Leadership for their timely and significant contribution.
As the number of prisoners keeps increasing, Deputy Superintendent Mulbah simultaneously begged AFELL’s leadership to never forget the prison facilities.
