Amb. Yin, Commerce Minister Chart New Path for Trade Cooperation

Monrovia, Liberia – In an attempt to boost bilateral commerce and investment, Chinese Ambassador Yin Chengwu recently met with Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh. The two countries reiterated their dedication to strengthening economic cooperation.

throughout the conversation, Ambassador Yin summarized the key findings of the Communist Party of China’s 20th Central Committee’s Fourth Plenary Session, highlighting China’s continued commitment to advancing high-standard opening-up throughout the upcoming 15th Five-Year Plan period.

He emphasized that these policy initiatives will provide developing nations like Liberia additional opportunities. “China is actively implementing its zero-tariff policy for African countries, a program designed to ease access to the vast Chinese market,” Amb. Yin explained.

He asserted that Liberia will benefit greatly if its businesses make full use of the initiative by increasing export-oriented output. Additionally, the Chinese envoy urged the Liberian government to support local companies in exploring new business and trade prospects with China.

He emphasized that in addition to boosting bilateral trade, this will immediately raise the standard of living for ordinary Liberians. He underlined that China views Liberia as a trustworthy ally and is still ready to assist it in achieving its development objectives through investment cooperation, trade facilitation, and market access.

He went on to remark that supporting Liberia’s export potential aligns with China’s long-standing goal of fostering shared prosperity with African nations.

Minister Dagoseh, on her part, conveyed her sincere gratitude for China’s longstanding assistance with Liberia’s social and economic advancement. She commended China for continuing to be a trustworthy partner in trade facilitation, capacity building, and infrastructure development.

However, Minister Dagoseh reiterated Liberia’s willingness to expand economic cooperation, emphasizing that her ministry will endeavor to establish the conditions required for more active engagement between Chinese and Liberian companies.

She emphasized that Liberia’s national development program places a high premium on increasing trade with China. The Minister claims that Liberia is eager to increase its export profile by looking into prospects in China’s sizable consumer market.

According to her, increasing value addition, raising industrial standards, and developing China’s manufacturing potential all depend on cooperation.

The Minister added that greater interaction between the two countries’ business communities will expand the government’s revenue base, create jobs, and encourage the expansion of the private sector. According to her, these results are essential for long-term national growth.
