Highlighting the nation’s impressive economic tenacity, modifying foreign policy, and strategic development objectives.
Monrovia, Liberia – The Chinese ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwu has underlined China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the nation while highlighting its exceptional economic resilience, changing foreign policy, and strategic development objectives. Ambassador Yin described China’s economic development, international involvement, and ongoing collaboration with Liberia in important areas such as trade, investment, and infrastructure at a media roundtable on Thursday, March 20.
Despite international difficulties like the COVID-19 epidemic and global instabilities, Ambassador Yin emphasized China’s capacity to sustain consistent economic development. He mentioned that China has set a growth goal of 5% for 2024 and attributes this stability to innovation, robust economic policies, and a dedication to global development.
The resilience of the Chinese economy, according to Ambassador Yin, is evidence of the country’s good economic policies, concentration on innovation, and commitment by the government to ensuring that growth benefits everyone, not just those in China.
With more investments in robots, artificial intelligence, and green technology, he discussed China’s transition to an innovation-driven economy. Through better healthcare, education, and rural development, Ambassador Yin emphasized his government’s efforts to modernize industries, lessen income inequality, and increase social welfare.
China prioritizes long-term value creation, raising people’s standard of living, and maintaining a healthy economic environment above merely increasing its population. “We want to achieve sustainable development that supports global economic stability,” he said.
China has successfully lifted over 800 million people out of poverty over the course of four decades, a model that might provide African countries with important lessons, Ambassador Yin added.
He reiterated China’s commitment to peaceful development, multilateralism, and non-interference in the domestic affairs of other countries in the context of foreign policy. In support of a more equitable international order, he underlined the value of international collaboration above unilateral measures.
He said, peaceful coexistence, respect for one another, and non-interference in the domestic affairs of other nations are the cornerstones of China’s foreign policy. “We firmly believe international discussion, rather than force, is the best way to address the world’s problems.”
Also, Ambassador Yin restated China’s diplomatic activities in the Middle East and Africa as well as its role in encouraging amicable settlements of global disputes.
The future of China-Liberia relations, which began with the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1977, is bright, according to Ambassador Yin. He said, the two countries’ collaboration has greatly increased in the areas of commerce, education, and infrastructure.
“For decades, our connection with Liberia has been productive, and we are still working together more and more. We are proud of the progress we’ve made together, and China is committed to supporting Liberia’s socio-economic development,” the ambassador added.
Pointing to current and completed initiatives in energy, communication, and road building, he highlighted China’s contribution to Liberia’s developing infrastructure.
He stressed that the partnership in the energy sector, road construction, and other areas is focused on accomplishing Liberia’s development objectives, particularly in enhancing economic growth, energy access, and connectivity.
He also discussed China’s contributions to Liberia’s health and education systems, such as the ongoing deployment of Chinese medical teams to assist the country’s healthcare system, in Monrovia (JFK Medical Center), Tappita ( Jackson F. Doe Hospital) and scholarships for Liberian students to study in China.
According to Ambassador Yin, cooperation between both nations is essential in the fields of healthcare and education. “Our goal is to keep collaborating to enhance Liberia’s human capital and the welfare of its people.”
As China has grown to be Liberia’s biggest commercial partner, Ambassador Yin urged Liberian entrepreneurs to explore business prospects in China’s growing market.
He said, “We see a lot of potential for collaboration between Chinese and Liberian companies. In particular, China is keen to increase its trade and investment in sectors that are essential to Liberia’s economic development.”
Ambassador Yin underlined the existing state of trade, noting that China exports building materials, machinery, and other items while importing electronics and rubber.
