AME Zion University Honors Top Graduates

At Scholastic Awards Program

Monrovia, Liberia – The African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) on Friday, October 24, 2025, hosted its Scholastic Awards Program to recognize thirty-four outstanding graduating students for their academic excellence in various disciplines.

The event formed part of the university’s 2025 34th Commencement Convocation and took place at the Clara Marie Event Hall on 12th Street, Sinkor. The colorful ceremony brought together faculty members, administrators, students, and family members who gathered to celebrate the achievements of the honorees.

The awards highlighted the students’ hard work, dedication, and commitment to academic distinction throughout their years of study at AME Zion University.

In his welcome remarks, Prof. R. Kofa Kloh, a representative of the university’s administration commended the honorees for demonstrating exceptional discipline and perseverance in their respective fields. He noted that the awards serve as motivation for other students to strive for academic excellence and contribute positively to society after graduation.

Serving as a guest speaker, Dr. James F. Kollie, a veteran alumnus of AMEUZ described the occasion as a celebration of disciplines, dedication and quiet victories; highlighting the persistence and sacrifices of the scholars. According to him, while education does not guarantee success, it tilts the odd in favor of the scholars, opening doors for their future and setting an example for other.

Dr. Kollie said that with the distinction earned, scholars now carry a new identity as ambassadors of the AME Zion University.

Also, several guests and department heads also presented certificates and plaques to the awardees, acknowledging their outstanding performance in programs such as Public Administration, Agronomy, Accounting, Sociology, Management, and Police Planning, among others.

Meanwhile, before the main event, Dr. Emmanuel Johnson, President of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University launched his first ever two books “Stewardship, Old and New: Second Edition 2025 and Stewardship Administration: Administering the Local Church 2025.”

Speaking at the launch, Dr. Johnson said that the books focus on the concept of stewardship; emphasizing its importance in daily life and various settings. Moreover, he discussed the significance of stewardship in various aspects of life, including personal, professional and national responsibilities. However, the AMEZU President encouraged the public to purchase the book to enrich and transform their lives.

“Everyone is a steward, entrusted with managing the world’s bounty and giving an account of their stewardship,” Dr. Johnson said.

Sharing his story of dissertation, he explained that the initial pages were 400, but condensed to 100 pages.
